Architect SEO
SEO for Architects, Found by Clients Planning Their Project
Most of the architect searches we measured are made at a desk, and some clients now ask an AI assistant who to use. We provide SEO for architects and design practices, getting extensions, new builds and commercial fit-outs seen in Google's results, the map pack and AI answers. A senior SEO runs your account and interviews your architects before anything is written.
Some of the brands we have worked with
Who this is for
Architectural practices we work with
Residential practices
"Residential architects" scores just 5 for difficulty in Ahrefs UK data (September 2026), and the top-ranking page gets more of its traffic from "luxury residential architects" than from any other search. A residential page describing the houses you design serves both searches.
Commercial and fit-out practices
"Commercial architects" is a separate and harder search, scoring 30 for difficulty in Ahrefs' data. Commercial design and fit-out need their own pages, apart from your house projects, so a commercial client sees that work first.
Practices winning local extension work
"Extension architects near me" is the one client search we measured made mostly on phones: 54% of about 60 a month (Ahrefs UK data, September 2026). Your extension page and profile must be quick and clear on a small screen.
Specialists in one building type
A practice known for new builds, say, wants to be the name an AI assistant gives when asked who designs them. That starts with articles written under a named architect's byline and a precise description of the buildings you design.
What we do
How clients search for an architect, and on what device
An architect is a high-value hire, and the search data bears that out. Four of the five client searches we measured in Ahrefs UK data for September 2026 are made mostly at a desk, "architects near me" included, at about 2,600 searches a month. All five return a map pack, even "residential architects" and "commercial architects", which name no place. Ads run on "architects near me", and forum discussions sit among the results for "architect for house extension". AI assistants narrow the choice again, to the one or two practices they name in an answer.
SEO for architectural firms, workstream by workstream
Commission pages in plain terms
Residential extensions, new builds and commercial design each get a page setting out the brief, the survey and the likely timescale, in place of generic lines about "innovative design" that tell a client nothing.
Profile, photos and reviews
Through Local SEO, your Google Business Profile gets categories for the work you take on and photos of finished schemes. Reviews count in the map pack and with clients, so we set up a request routine and reply to each.
Articles under a named architect
"planning permission" and "building regulations" draw about 7,400 and 8,300 UK searches a month (Ahrefs, September 2026). We interview your architects, then publish articles like these and scheme write-ups under their names, for AI answers to cite.
Portfolio pages and site speed
Most architect searches we measured come from desktops, so page speed is tested there as well as on phones, with mobile usability. We also find orphaned portfolio pages, fix broken links and indexing, and add schema markup for the practice.
Being named by AI assistants
When a client asks ChatGPT or Gemini which practice to use for an extension or a new build, consistent details and cited expertise shape the answer. Our Generative Engine Optimisation work builds both across your site, profile and directories.
Building contractors have their own page, SEO for Construction.
What page one held for "architects near me"
On 20 September 2026, Ahrefs' UK check of "architects near me" showed a map pack of three listings. Beneath the pack, directories took half the organic results: Local Architects Direct, Yell, Checkatrade and Houzz, with Domain Ratings from 38 to 91. Practices' own homepages held the rest, three rated 1 or lower, every title naming where the practice works. Nobody controls those places and we promise none of them, but a practice's own site rated 1 or lower plainly can win one. Each People Also Ask question there turned on cost, so a page explaining how your fees are set answers clients at that point.

Frequently Asked Questions
One route is search, where clients look for a practice before a project starts. Someone wanting an extension may type "architect for house extension" or "architects near me". A project page targets the first; the second brings up a map pack of Google Business Profiles, so yours must be complete.
The projects you want first, then the places. "Residential architects" gets about 700 UK searches a month, "commercial architects" 500 and "architect for house extension" 100 (Ahrefs, September 2026), each needing a page. Add a town only where you take commissions and research shows demand.
Usually, yes. Google shows a map pack even when the search names no place, as with "residential architects". Local SEO for architects starts with the Google Business Profile, accurate service areas and project photos, then pages for the areas you cover.
Mainly through search, ads and organic pages together. Google Ads buys visibility, but the spend recurs with every new commission you chase; ranking project pages lessen that reliance. Your ads' search terms also show project types your site has yet to cover.
No. AI Overviews and ChatGPT still have to find material about a practice before naming it, and they read much the same pages, profiles and mentions that Google ranks. A page stating exactly which buildings you design, and where, gives them a sentence to quote.
Each practice gets its own quote, given once a senior SEO has gone through your site and scheme pages. The commissions you want set the scope: Ahrefs scores "architects near me" 50 for difficulty and "architect for house extension" 4, so the first is the longer job.
